Career

Fritz Rudolf was a member of the German Bundestag for 23 years, from 1990 to 2013.

As deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, he was responsible for domestic policy, law, sports, culture and media from 2005 to 2009. For eight years, he was a member of the Parliamentary Control Panel, which monitors the work of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) and the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD).

After the 1998 Bundestag elections, he was appointed to the federal government led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. The position was that of parliamentary state secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior (Otto Schily).

Previously Fritz Rudolf was also (1994 - 1998) domestic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag.

Fritz Rudolf has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 1973.

Education

He completed his studies in theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

Private

In his spare time, he is the chairman of a youth recreation center run by the Protestant parish of Worms-Hochheim. Since many years, he is the chairman of the FSV Rehborn soccer club's support association. He also enjoys reading, fishing and cycling.
